Plug-in solar in Sunderland
Sunderland has a house type you won't find anywhere else: the single-storey Sunderland cottage, in streets around Millfield, Pallion and Hendon. Low rooftops nearby mean open sky over the yard, and that's good news for a solar panel.

Bright skies on the coast
By the sea there's lots of open sky and light. Ground kits are held down with concrete blocks, and the maker gives the number for each wind speed, so they stay put in a sea breeze.
