An estimate, not a promise. It assumes a south-facing, unshaded spot at 30°, North West England, about 700 kWh a year from an 800W kit (Energy Saving Trust), 40–70% of it used at home, and the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh (1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026). Electricity you send to the grid isn't paid for. Your result will vary with location, shade and when you use electricity.

Do I really not need an electrician?

Not to set it up. If you don't have a weatherproof outdoor socket near your spot, or you're not sure your fuse box has modern RCD protection, an electrician can sort that first. Kits with more than 960W of panels should have a check either way.

How long does it take?

Most people are done in an afternoon. Building the stand is the longest part.

What if I move house?

Take it with you. Update your registration at myplugin.solar at your new address.

Can you set it up for me?

Not yet. Optional site checks and fitting are coming soon, but most people won't need them.
