Plug-in solar in Wallsend
Wallsend has rows of terraces near the river and roomy semis further up towards Battle Hill and Holystone. Whether you've got a yard or a lawn, there's a kit that fits.
Three questions, then you're ready
- 1Where's the sun?Find the spot that gets the sun from late morning. That's where the panel goes.
- 2Where's the socket?A weatherproof outdoor socket within 4m. No extension leads.
- 3How much room?About 1.9m by 1.2m for one panel, 3.7m by 1.2m for two.
Saving from day one
Once it's plugged in, your fridge, router and anything else running uses the panels' power first. A busy family home could save around £180 a year with our biggest kit.

Do I need an electrician?
Not to set it up. You need a weatherproof outdoor socket and modern RCD protection in your fuse box. If you don't have those, an electrician can sort them.
How do I get it to the back?
Through the back lane or side gate if you have one. The box is big, so have two people ready.
